Summary
We collect the minimum information needed to let you sign in, remember your reading position, and show you your own statistics. Your reading history is private — we do not share it with other users, sell it, or use it to train any AI model.
What we collect
When you sign in with Google we receive:
- Your Google account ID (an opaque string)
- Your email address
- Your display name and profile photo URL
While you use the app we record:
- Which Bible chapters, confession sections, and devotionals you read, and when
- Your AI commentary requests (the passage or section reference you asked about — no free-form questions are sent)
- Your reading-plan progress
- Your language and notification preferences
- Push-notification subscription details, if you opt in
We do not collect payment information, location, contacts, photos, or any other Google account data beyond those listed above.
How we use it
- To let you sign in and stay signed in across visits.
- To show you a personalized home page, today’s reading, and your stats.
- To send the daily “Today’s Doctrine” notification, if you opt in.
- In aggregate and anonymized form, to understand which features are useful. Aggregation is at the cohort level; we do not look at individual reading history for product analytics.
Who sees it
- You can always see and (eventually) export your own reading history.
- App operators can see aggregate metrics and, if you initiate a support request, your own data.
- No one else. Reading history is never shown to other users. We do not sell to or share with advertisers.
AI processing
When you request AI commentary on a Bible passage or a confessional section, the reference (e.g., “John 3:14–16”) and your chosen language are sent to OpenRouter, which routes the request to a third-party language model (currently Qwen by Alibaba and Anthropic Claude, depending on availability and cost). We do not send your name, email, or any other personal information. We have disabled training-use where the provider supports it.
Retention and deletion
- Account: kept while you have an account.
- Reading history: kept while you have an account.
- AI commentary cache: shared across users, keyed by passage + language + model. Not associated with individual users beyond a per-user “viewed” event.
You can delete your account from Settings → Account. We delete your profile and reading history within 30 days. Cache entries are not associated with you and remain.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable age). If we learn we have collected data from someone below that age, we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA, others), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or object to processing of your data. Email xviewappinfo@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
Changes
We will post any material change here with at least 14 days’ notice.
